The osteopathic techniques are in fact neither osseous, neither muscular, neither ligamentar, neither tendineous, neither facial, nor cutaneous. They are all addressed to Tenso-Modulators Elements (E.T.M.) located between the deeper skin and structures.

The E.T.M. are unprogramming while “sticking” to the skin.

Their detachment, at the same time, leads to their reprogramming and the instantaneous disappearance of the osteopathic lesion (L.O.).

Example: A young patient presents a hyperalgic stiff neck. The detailed analysis of the skin makes it possible to locate points of adhesive, the unprogramming E.T.M. There, the skin is retracted, friable, fixes, adherent with the subjacent E.T.M. A delicate stimulation of the skin allows an instantaneous detachment. At the same time, the cervical rachis becomes again painless and flexible.

It is as if the blocking, “seizing” of the articulation were not at the level of the articulation itself, nor even on the level of the muscles, but resulted from a “cutaneous fixing” on the level of the E.T.M.: the articulation cannot turn right because the skin cannot be stretched towards the right.

This observation that we have already noticed with the sign of Lasègue relates to all articulations, all the L.O., no matter their seat, their intensity, their seniority.

The osteopathic treatment consists of a detachment of the skin on the level of the E.T.M.

This detachment can be done:

In a direct way, by an action on the skin itself.

In a semi-direct way, by an action on the major structures: osseous, muscular.

In an indirect way, by polarity.
